Auston Matthews signs five-year, $54 million contract with Toronto Maple Leafs
The Toronto Maple Maple Leafs announced today that Auston Mathews will sign a five-Year, $64.25 million contract extension.
The extension is worth an average of $5.6 million per season with an average annual value of $4.9 million, making it the second highest paid player in the NHL.
The deal was completed during the NHL’s annual owners meeting.
Matthews, 24, has recorded six goals and 21 assists for 24 points in 61 career NHL games with Toronto.
The 5-foot-10, 200-pound forward has tallied six goals in his last seven games, all of which came in Toronto.
He has played in 15 career NHL playoff games, collecting two goals and four assists.
