Why is the University of Washington library no longer accepting new applications for 2018?
The University of Western Australia is not accepting new submissions for 2018, the state’s education and information commissioner has announced.
The decision comes after it was revealed the university was unable to cope with the unprecedented volume of applications it received.
“It’s really disappointing to us that the university has decided not to accept new applications,” Information Commissioner Richard Wylie said.
“The university had received applications from almost 10,000 students in the last 12 months.”
That was the highest volume of new applications we’ve seen in at least 20 years.
“He said the decision was disappointing to all of WA’s universities and community, but that it was ultimately about ensuring the best possible education and access for students and staff.”
There was a time when the University’s Library Service had a much better chance to offer an accessible and innovative service,” Mr Wyl, who is also WA’s education minister, said.”[The] University of WA has been trying to provide a more accessible and accessible education environment for students since the university opened in 1973.
“We are extremely disappointed the University has decided to end this service and we’re hoping that in the future, the university will offer a more innovative service that will be accessible to all students and all staff.”
