J.W. O’Brien to retire as president of Arlington Public Library
J. W. O”Brien, president of the Arlington Public Libraries, will step down from his position effective July 1, the library announced Thursday.
The library said Mr. OBrien will retire effective July 5.
He will be replaced by a new president and vice president, who will assume his or her role during the next year.
The announcement comes a day after the Library of Congress announced that it would honor the life of its former president, Harry A. Daugherty, on Jan. 27.
Mr. Daveney served as president and chief executive officer of the library and is survived by his wife, Mary, and two daughters, Mary and Katherine.
